A Little Slow...

So, I just figured out how to view the comments I did not realize were there.....I see Fritz that you said "Alas, it was not meant to be". I am sorry it did not come through for you. What now? I guess we should wait to talk about such things until this is privatized?!

Hoooray!

Hooooray! Mom made it! I want you all to know how progressive Mom has become. She had 2 blogs of her VERY own going! I was impressed. I have never started a blog! Now all we have to do is get a picture up for the senior Beukers.

We have not heard from Giff or Barney! And Giff has a front and center picture on the blog! So there you go guys, I am throwing down the glove!

Gen, can we make this private so that not just anyone can view it? Or does private mean only invited folks can comment? That being said, where did the slide show come from?

Trial Run

Actually, this is my 3rd try; the other 2 were out in cyberspace until our in-house computer whiz, Lisa, came by, found them, eradicated them and set me up here. SO, we hope you all will enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are to indulge in our 2nd annual progressive dinner, starting with appetizers/salad (?) at the Lortze's, the turkey entre' at the Harrises and finish off at our place for desserts and coffee. Dad and I will bring other things to the Harrises, such as Huts Pot, rolls, etc.

As you see, it is now in the early A.M., the dishwasher is done and so am I. Ta ta for now. We sure hope to hear something/anything from Freetz Boyker and family. He's dropped into NeverNeverLand again. Love to all,
Mom/Gramma/Tiny

Gen, Is the slideshow of family pictures. I keep thinking I should recognize someone on it.
Also, is it possible to add a link to Dave's company website? I'm sorry to bug you. I can't figure out if I'm able to do this stuff or not.

Potential Interview Meeting in Germany

I was contacted by a head-hunter group a few weeks ago about a position with the US subsidiary of a German company called PERI. PERI is the world leader in concrete (sorry, Dad) formworks and molds, and construction support systems. Anyway, the US divisional CFO is German and came from the parent company, but his family wants to move back home. So his spot opened up and the head-hunter submitted my resume - along with eight others.

I made it through the first round, meeting the current CFO, and I had a second interview on Nov-5 with the division CEO. That went well, I think. The guy reminded me of Giff which reduced my anxiety a lot. If I made it pass that round (only three of the original nine will), then I'm supposed to meet with one or all of the German owners (a father and two sons; it's a private company) who will make the hiring decision. The idea is that the US division would be happy with any one of the final candidates, but the German parent makes the call. So, to do that, they either fly me to Germany or one of the owners comes to Maryland.

PERI looks like a great company! Very teamwork oriented; great infrastructure (systems, processes, etc.); the owners have no desire to go public (they tell me the sons' plans are to pass the company on to their GRAND-kids, not just their kids, and to keep it private for the next 50 years); And they've had non-stop growth for the last 15 years (although they are planning and prepared for a modest drop in business next year - assuming the US doesn't pass an infrastructure improvement bill or something.)

Anyway...blah, blah, blah. I hope to hear from them next week to see if I made the cut. If so, the German meeting will take place very soon after that. Wish me luck!

Way to go, Silas..& Fritz, where are you going?

Hi, this is in response to Silas' and Anna's postings: Silas, I know how happy you must be to have those braces off. Many of us can relate!
And Fritz, what's this in Anna's post, about you going to Germany? Let us know!
Gen
Hey, it's me, Silas!!
Hope everyone likes my costume (for anyone who can't tell, I'm the nerd in the pink shirt and glasses)! When I wore that outfit to school, one kid told me he wouldn't be able to look at me with a straight face for the rest of the year!

Anyway, I also wanted to thank Aunt Gen on the idea of a Beuker Blog. Now we can all keep in touch all year round!

Oh yeah! I fiiiinally got my BRACES OFF! I've already almost lost my retainer a couple of times, but not yet. The cool part about it is that it glows in the dark!

PSS regarding format of this blog

PSS: we can easily make this a private site, viewable and accessible on the internet solely by members. If y'all would prefer that, please let me know and I'll make that change.
Way to go, Anna!
Well, I guess this makes me a blogger. I even figured out how to add a picture for my profile! It's my hidden persona discovered this summer :)
Soccer is winding down for Ian and Jesse and Silas is done with cross-country for the season. We are heading to the beach Sun-Tues of Veteran's weekend. We're all looking forward to it. Dave has interviewed two people for a position to help him at work. I'm praying it will be filled soon and training won't take too long!
Rain has returned in force. The fall has been so beautiful: dry and crisp. The leaves have been gorgeous.

Veteran's Day weekend

Dan and I are taking a much-needed, brief vacation this coming weekend. Check out the site for the development / property we're heading to, just south of Atlanta: http://www.serenbeinn.com/
I'll put a link to the property on the blog site, too. There is a food fest of sorts this coming Sunday, and you know we like food!!

And, note to Giff and Kerri: please post some of your great Halloween photos. I will be doing the same in the days to come.
